It’s been an exciting few weeks working on our You’re Enough campaign that features everyday women who are proving why they are special and uniquely beautiful. Our latest amazing lady is Rachel Marinez.
While growing up, Rachel repeatedly heard that being short and skinny were two key components of beauty. As a girl who was tall and not super skinny, that was hard for her to hear.
“Growing up, I was never ‘skinny’ to anyone, and I’m also a tall woman, so I was never the girl anyone called beautiful. I remember in high school even one of my best friends telling me I had a pig nose,” she said. “For decades, I was scared to eat in front of anyone.”
Those rigid ideals of beauty took their toll on Rachel’s self-confidence.
“I have also had a couple bad relationships that really took a toll on my self-esteem. My hardest breaking point was my divorce when my childhood crush/love left me for someone else and had another child before the divorce was finished,” she said.
It’s only been recently that Rachel has seized back her confidence, and now she’s unstoppable, feeling beautiful every single day.
“The last year is when I have truly found myself and realized how strong and amazing I am. I can accomplish anything and I am worth happiness,” she said. “I have built myself back up from the gutter and learned I can accomplish anything I put my mind to.”
Those are powerful words that everyone should remember. We are all worth happiness. When asked what she would say to others who struggle to see their own beauty, Rachel had this to say:
“Beauty is not just on the outside, and being kind to another person can change their world. You don’t have to be a size 0 to be beautiful. Everyone is beautiful in their own way,” she said.
While on the topic of inner beauty, Rachel shared what she considers her best non-physical feature to be.
“I am an extremely hard worker. I work three jobs to give my children the life they deserve to have. They are my world!”
Such a hardworking woman undoubtedly deserves to have gorgeous photos of herself. When asked why these kinds of photos are important to her right now, Rachel said, “I have never had a professional photo taken of myself and would love to show everyone how wonderful I feel about myself.”
That’s a great reason to have pictures taken! Rachel deserves every bit of happiness and confidence that she now has. And I was happy to help her flaunt it to the world during our photo session.
Stay tuned in the coming days for more stories about other women featured in our You’re Enough campaign. Together, we’re reminding each other just how powerful each and every woman can be.
